the pleasure of the ball
from June 30 to July 5, 2018

Open to the public from June 30 to July 5, 2018, in the « Neptune » Room on the Port of Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat, the exhibition "The Pleasures of the Ball" invites you to plunge in the world of four emblematic painters of the pictorial current of the "Fêtes Galantes", style established by the Royal Academy in 1717.

Watteau, Bouchet, Fragonard or Nicolas Lancret, among others decrypt the games of seduction of their times through bucolic scenes that strangely respond to today's interrogations about the role of men and women in the art of seduction.

In order to support the message of the painters, the photographer Calypso de Sigaldi realized the series "Lessons of Love", made of eleven panels where she tries to rediscover the bucolic and colorful spirit of Galantes Festivities painting, to illustrate quotations from great philosophers and libertine thinkers on the art of seduction and love, and the Parisian designer Lionel Gonis stages a game of "Blind Man’s Bluff » evocative flirtations of the eighteenth century.

Free access exhibition from June 30 to July 5 every day from 16h to 20h30
